Last Sun on the Canopy

For arriving home at the end of a long journey and sitting down by the window. The fire warms the room, and on the table lie the folded map and the lantern you carried all the way back. Outside, the last light lingers only on the highest leaves of the canopy. Celtic harp harmonics and an alto recorder draw a five-note arch and return to it again and again with modest ornaments. Added sixths in C major hold one color while slowly changing expression, bringing back the scenes of the road one at a time.
