Roots Across the Path

For the moment you go to step over a thick root and find a fox looking up at you from the hollow beneath it. It doesn't run; it simply watches, working out what you are. A wire-strung harp sings a rising line, and a low wooden flute and soft viola answer warmly from below. Sounds join one at a time and leave again in the reverse order. In the slightly open color of A Mixolydian, your foot over the root and the fox's tail move with the same care.
