13 Free BGM Tracks for RPG and Game Development

RPG music has to serve a scene: battle, field travel, dungeon exploration or a story event. Music popular in videos and streams is not necessarily music that supports play inside a game.

This guide counts one developer recommendation, BGM lists from five released free games, and two track selections for battles and TRPG scenes. Streaming, gameplay-video and vlog articles, along with distributor-owned playlists, were excluded from the source pool.

After normalizing title variants to official spellings, we kept only the 13 tracks named by at least two of the eight sources. Every track can be auditioned through an official YouTube upload from its creator or distributor. Check the current source terms before use.

How this list was chosen

  • Counted eight third-party, track-level lists grounded in RPG or game development, actual in-game use, or game-scene selection
  • Excluded streaming, gameplay-video, vlog and general-video articles, site-only roundups, and distributor-owned selections
  • Normalized title variants to official spellings and kept only tracks named by at least two independent sources
  • Ranked by source count descending, then official title for ties; all 13 tracks appear in two sources
  • Embedded only verified official YouTube uploads from the creator or distributor; no third-party reuploads

The qualifying set leans toward battles, dungeons and horror events. No town or inn track reached the two-source threshold, so none was added merely to balance the sections.

Once you have a shortlist, test the loop against the actual map, combat speed and amount of dialogue. The source link on each entry is the place to check current download and usage terms.
