Snowfall Village

For a night when snow has absorbed every sound. Village windows glow amber and only the chimney smoke rises straight. The electric-piano chords are played at the temperature of a steaming cup held in both hands. Below freezing outside, warm inside — you press your forehead to the glass at that boundary. Some nights you can watch snow pile up on an unwalked road for no reason at all, for as long as you like.
